What selling on TikTok Shop is actually like
TikTok Shop puts products inside the content people are already watching. Buyers tap through from short videos, LIVE streams and creator posts, and a lot of sellers grow through the affiliate programme, where creators promote products for commission. The upside is reach. The operational reality is volatility: a product can sit quietly for weeks and then sell a month of stock overnight because one video caught on.
Beauty, wellness, gadgets, fashion accessories and giftable bundles do well, and bundles and limited drops are common because they make good content. All of that lands on the warehouse as sudden, lumpy demand.
TikTok Shop's shipping policy and the metrics behind your score
TikTok Shop UK's Customer Order Shipping Policy sets out a packing and handover window for every order, measured in working days from when the order is received. Labels must show the customer's name and full address plus the seller's contact details, be securely stuck on, not cover other barcodes and never ask for reviews. Sellers ship either with Ship by TikTok, where the platform's carrier scans the parcel and updates it to Shipped, or Ship by Seller, where you enter the tracking number from an approved courier yourself.
Those events feed metrics. Late Dispatch Rate applies to Ship by TikTok parcels that reach Shipped status after the window. On-Time Delivery Rate measures parcels delivered by their deliver-by date. Valid Tracking Rate measures Ship by Seller parcels sent with tracked services from approved couriers, and a low figure can bring order volume limits. The Shop Performance Score also counts seller-fault cancellations, including orders cancelled because stock ran out, and fulfilment and logistics carry a heavy weighting in it.
How TikTok Shop orders and stock flow through Smart
New TikTok Shop orders come into our system automatically. We pick at 99.9% pick and pack accuracy, pack, label and dispatch; orders that land before 9pm go out that day (cut-offs vary by carrier, service and daily order profile). Tracking and order status go back to TikTok Shop so the order moves along and the buyer can follow it.
Stock is the part sellers underestimate. Quantities sync back from our shelves, so when a video takes off the shop stops selling units we don't have, rather than creating cancellations that count against you. Ahead of a planned LIVE or creator push, we can build bundles in advance and hold them ready to pick, and the client portal shows exactly what is left as orders pour in.
