Smart Fulfilment

OnBuy fulfilment UK

OnBuy is a UK marketplace positioned as an alternative to Amazon and eBay, and its Seller Terms are clear that fulfilment is entirely the seller's job. Smart connects to your OnBuy account so orders are picked, packed and dispatched from Scunthorpe, with dispatch and tracking recorded against every order.

Who sells on OnBuy

OnBuy is a general marketplace covering most retail categories, from home and garden to electronics, toys, health and pet. It tends to appeal to UK sellers who already trade on Amazon and eBay and want another channel in front of a different set of buyers, and to shoppers comparing prices across retailers, so availability and delivery promises carry real weight.

Because OnBuy is usually a second or third channel, it rarely justifies its own stockroom. It works best when it draws on the same stock as everything else you sell.

Handling time, priority orders and delivery timeframes in OnBuy's Seller Terms

OnBuy's Seller Terms spell out the obligations. Orders must be dispatched within the handling time you set in the Seller Control Panel (SCP), and you pick the delivery timeframe buyers are offered. Priority orders must go out that day when they are placed before the priority cut-off you set in the SCP. You can accept or reject an order, but rejections can hurt your performance metrics and trigger a refund fee, and the acceptance email reaches the buyer at the point of dispatch.

Missing delivery timeframes has direct consequences: OnBuy can refund the buyer on your behalf. If you ship with an untracked service and a parcel doesn't arrive in the timeframe, or can't be proven delivered, OnBuy can require a full refund or a replacement unless you have tracking or other evidence of delivery. The terms also ask sellers to keep the SCP updated daily with dispatches and tracking numbers, and sellers who miss performance metrics for consecutive months risk restricted access.

In short, OnBuy rewards tracked parcels, honest handling times and a priority cut-off you can meet every day.

How OnBuy orders and stock move between the Seller Control Panel and Smart

New OnBuy orders reach our system automatically. We pick at 99.9% pick and pack accuracy, pack and choose a tracked carrier service for each parcel. Orders received before 9pm are dispatched the same day (cut-offs vary by carrier, service and daily order profile), so we will help you set a priority cut-off in the SCP that sits comfortably inside ours.

Dispatch and tracking are sent back to OnBuy, so the order is marked dispatched, the buyer gets their email and the record exists if a delivery is ever disputed. Stock levels sync back from our shelves, which keeps your OnBuy listings honest when the same units are also selling on Amazon, eBay or your own site.

FAQ

OnBuy: common questions

Can you meet OnBuy priority orders?

OnBuy's Seller Terms require priority orders to go out that day if placed before the priority cut-off you set in the Seller Control Panel. We help you set that cut-off to fit our dispatch schedule.

Why use tracked delivery on OnBuy?

Under OnBuy's Seller Terms, if an untracked parcel doesn't arrive in the delivery timeframe, OnBuy can require a refund or replacement unless you can prove delivery. Every parcel we send is tracked with proof of delivery.

What handling time should I set in the Seller Control Panel?

One you can hold on your busiest day. OnBuy expects orders dispatched within the handling time you set, and we work to it.

Do rejected orders affect my OnBuy account?

They can. OnBuy says rejections may affect your performance metrics and incur a refund fee. Accurate stock syncing from our shelves reduces the orders you would have to reject.

Can OnBuy share stock with Amazon and eBay?

Yes. We run OnBuy from the same stock pool as your other channels, so every marketplace sells from one count.
