Who supplies Wayfair and how the model works
Wayfair is a home destination: furniture, outdoor, bedding, lighting, kitchenware and décor across a wide set of categories, including made-to-order pieces listed with accurate lead times. Sellers are called suppliers or partners, and they run their account through Partner Home, which Wayfair describes as the place to manage your catalogue, fulfil orders, get paid and act on insights.
Wayfair's own guide calls drop-shipping its primary method of fulfilment. A customer orders on the site, Wayfair sends the purchase order to your warehouse, and you pick, pack and send it to the customer. The alternative is CastleGate, where Wayfair's own fulfilment network stores stock and ships on your behalf. Many suppliers use both, and CastleGate is generally something established sellers add after launch.
What Wayfair drop-ship asks of a warehouse
Wayfair's onboarding checklist asks drop-ship suppliers for at least one warehouse or third-party warehouse address in the selling region, which is where a UK 3PL fits. It also asks you to upload positive inventory, set a realistic cadence for inventory updates, and decide whether shipping labels are downloaded from Wayfair or produced through your own systems. Wayfair expects goods to be packed and labelled to industry standards, and it tracks fill rates, cancellations, returns and order incidents in its Operations Hub.
Home goods are not small parcels. Lamps, mirrors and flat-pack pieces need protective packing, and a damaged delivery shows up as an incident against your account. Because Wayfair measures cancellations, the inventory you report has to be honest: if the stock is not on our shelf, it should not be showing as available on Wayfair.
How Wayfair purchase orders flow through Smart
Each Wayfair purchase order lands in our system automatically, alongside orders from your own site and any other channels, and draws on one shared stock pool. We pick and pack it to the standard your products need, apply the label, and ship it tracked with proof of delivery. Same-day dispatch applies to orders placed before 9pm; cut-offs vary by carrier, service and daily order profile.
Tracking and order status flow back once the parcel is on its way, and stock levels sync back so your Wayfair inventory feed reflects what is physically here. Goods-in is checked against your purchase orders to suppliers, so the stock you report to Wayfair starts from an accurate count. Your named contact, Andy Paine, knows the account if a Wayfair incident needs answering.
